Most players pick numbers under 32 because they use dates. Choosing higher numbers does not improve your odds at all — but it reduces how many people you would split a jackpot with.

Playing consistently does not accumulate any advantage — twenty years of the same six numbers leaves the odds on any given Saturday completely unchanged. What consistency does create is a psychological cost: people who have played the same numbers for years often feel unable to skip a week, in case that is the week they would have won. That feeling is real, but it is a fact about human regret rather than about probability.
